THE SCIENCE OF SCRUTINY
Due Diligence as a Service (DDaaS)
While doing things properly and investing in high-impact climate action is key, we understand it’s not the whole picture. Ensuring you do things the right way, while mitigating risk is critical. Our Due Diligence Framework, and DDaaS provide unparalleled insight into the key attributes and associated risks of any carbon offset, so you have the full picture every time.
Why DDaaS?
Getting purchasing carbon offsets right is extremely effective for meeting climate targets and having impact. However, getting it wrong can easily lead to reputational damage and loss of capital invested. Our DDaaS capability takes our market-leading Due Diligence Framework and provides an independent, in-depth risk and attributes assessment of any project a client needs looking into - whether they have, or are thinking of, purchasing offsets from it.
A second opinion can save a second go.
AT A GLANCE
What we assess
Drawing on the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, CORSIA's Emissions Unit Eligibility Criteria, and Nature Broking’s bespoke assessment, we collect and analyse over 650 targeted data points.
From this we can understand all the necessary attributes and the risk profile of a carbon project.
Outcomes
The results of our assessments are synthesised into three ratings:
72%
Integrity
89%
Co-benefits
64%
Risk
Integrity
This is the overall rating of the project and combines all attributes together to measures the accuracy and reliability of carbon credit claims.
Co-benefits
Assesses alignment with UN SDGs, biodiversity and community benefits and highlights projects delivering impact beyond carbon removal.
Risk
Project design risks reflecting failures of gaps identified during the due diligence assessment of the Standard, Developer and Project Design. External risks including; business, insolvency, policy, property, technical, political, complexity, climate and reputational.
Assessment focus areas
-
The carbon crediting programme, its framework, policies, methodologies and governance.
-
The organisations implementing the projects aligning to approved Standards, their technical and organisational capabilities and associated risks.
-
The activity/initiative reducing or removing carbon, and the efficacy and risks associated with the individual project.
-
The biodiversity and community benefits generated, beyond carbon sequestration.
-
Evaluating further project design risk and external risks to the project.

All carbon offsets and projects Nature Broking works with go through our Due Diligence Framework. Read more about our Strategic Carbon Portfolios for how we develop de-risked carbon solutions. It all starts with due diligence.
Let’s work together.
We apply our DDaaS to work for you with multiple options for depth of assessment.
